Zostavax is a vaccine used to prevent shingles (zoster) and zoster-related post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), the long-lasting nerve pain that follows shingles for adults 50 years and older.It is given in one dose as a shot, and can be given in a doctor’s office or pharmacy.
