Jamieson cranberry concentrate is most commonly used for the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). It works by creating an acidic environment in the urinary tract, hindering the proliferation of bacteria. Some of the chemicals in cranberries also work by making it difficult for bacteria to stick to the cells that line the urinary tract where they can multiply and therefore prevent infection. Cranberries also contain significant amounts of salicylic acid an important component of aspirin. Drinking cranberry juice regularly increases the amount of salicylic acid in the body. Salicylic acid can reduce swelling, prevent blood clots, and can have anti-cancer effects.
