ATORID EZ 10MG/10MG 30S (ATORVASTATIN/ EZETIMIBE)

Atorid ez is a prescription-only medicine used to treat high levels of cholesterol and to prevent cardiovascular diseases for those at high risk. It is a combination of atorvastatin and ezetimibe both of which act in synergy to treat abnormal levels of cholesterol in the blood. In addition to taking atorid ez, other measures such as exercise and diet adjustment are also advised.

Atorvastatin works by inhibiting an enzyme found in the liver that plays a role in producing cholesterol while ezetimibe decreases the absorption of cholesterol from the intestines.

Side effects

The major side effects associated with atorid ez include: upper respiratory tract infections, painful joints, diarrhea, tiredness, heartburn, and muscle pain. More serious side effects may include liver problems, diabetes, depression, muscle breakdown, and anaphylaxis.

Caution

Atorid ez should not be used in pregnancy as it may harm the baby by affecting serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels, which are essential for the development of the foetus.It should also be avoided in breastfeeding mothers as it may interfere with the baby’s metabolism of cholesterol.
